What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is essentially eating healthy food in (or as close to) its natural state for optimal health and well-being. Holistic nutrition means mindful eating — an approach to eating in which you’re consciously considering everything you consume, placing focus on eating unrefined, unprocessed, organic and locally grown whole foods. A holistic nutrition plan involves the use of evidence-based techniques to change one’s diet and lifestyle. This may also include detoxification, the process of removing the unnatural foods that have become standard elements of the western diet, and introducing whole, natural foods for the promotion of health. By following a holistic nutrition plan, you’ll make a big lifestyle shift and as a result, you may experience significant health benefits, including disease prevention, increased energy levels, a stronger immune system, better sleep, weight loss/weight management and so much more.

What Makes Us Different?

“I consider each individual to be as unique as a snowflake and as such I recommend and develop a personalized, holistic nutritional and lifestyle approach rather than use a cookie-cutter ‘one size fits all’ method. I love working collaboratively and alongside other healthcare professionals and involve them in the clients’ care.” (Rose Health Clinic registered holistic nutritionist, Simone Gisondi)

Holistic nutrition assesses an individual’s complete health history, including their emotional states, lifestyle and diet habits in order to determine the root cause of their health concerns — it’s not a one size fits all approach. Our holistic nutritionists evaluate your diet — whether you’re suffering from medical disorders, such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, IBS, IBD, cancer, gout, auto-immune, psoriasis, etc., or whether you just want a complete nutritional assessment to adopt an overall healthier lifestyle. We work with you to build a nutrition and lifestyle plan that modifies the intake of your foods and beverages.

In essence, we apply nutritional science to promote optimal health, energy, peak performance and individual care, using a wide range of tools to assess and identify nutritional imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms and poor health. This approach allows us to address the nutritional imbalances and help support your body on its healing journey and subsequently on its maintenance of health. We like to call what we do Nutritional Therapy, which is a form of integrative or complementary medicine — very helpful for individuals with chronic conditions, and equally helpful for those looking for support to enhance and maintain their overall health and well-being.

So I want to begin my holistic health journey. Where do I begin?

If you’re still deciding whether a holistic health approach is right for you, schedule an intro meeting — a 15-minute consultation with us is completely free. We want you to feel safe and confident knowing that this is the right path for you. At Rose Health Clinic, our holistic nutritionists offer packages, so they can see you throughout the whole process, monitoring and tweaking your nutrition plan as needed. It’s important that you fill out a questionnaire before starting your journey, to ensure you’re ready for the time, mental, emotional and financial investment. We then consult with you to find out your goals and desired outcome as well as to see if there is a fit.

Afterwards, we schedule more sessions with you, so we can go deeper into current and past nutritional and lifestyle habits, health history, diagnoses and medications, addressing concerns and making general recommendations. Our follow-up sessions include everything from individualized reports, analysis of imbalances and deficiencies/toxicities, weigh-ins, detoxification and meal plans to further discussions of necessary adjustments and check-ins for maintenance, progress and motivation.

To some, starting a holistic health journey may seem intimidating — so we ease you into the process from start to finish, so that it becomes a sustainable lifestyle, designed to support your body in its natural quest towards optimal health and the prevention of disease.
