Deon is a registered Social Worker with more than 14 years of experience, working in the province of Ontario. She obtained her Honours BA, in Sociology and Urban Studies from the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Social Work, also from the University of Toronto.

As a practitioner, she has developed a wide range of experiences having worked with community agencies, correctional facilities, and within the education system from kindergarten through to the post secondary level. She has worked extensively with parents and their children, within agencies such as Peel Children’s Aid Society, York Catholic District School Board, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto. She has also worked with adults struggling with relationship issues and mental health through agencies such as Morneau Shepell and Family Services of Peel. A central tenet of her practice is helping
individuals to develop healthy relationships and lifestyles.

Working from a client-centered approach, she mainly uses modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Theory and Solution Focused Therapy. She is a proponent of continuous learning and recently obtained a certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching from Humber College. This has enhanced her skill set, by allowing her to work from a more holistic approach by incorporating all aspects of the individual.
Through many work experiences, she has met countless individuals from many walks of life. She enjoys working with people and is very passionate about health and wellness. She is committed to supporting clients from the first meeting of ‘where they are’ to arriving at ‘where they want to be’.
